ASHA: Do you know why Zarathushtra shared his divine message in the form of songs - GATHAS ?

USHTA: That thought never crossed my mind, but let's put on our thinking caps together to have a meaningful dialog.

ASHA: I have an idea. Do you still remember these words
TWINKLE TWINKLE LITTE STAR
HOW I WONDER WHAT YOU ARE

USHTA: Yes.

ASHA: Did you ever think…
Why is it so easy to recall those words?

USHTA: It's because…
They are composed in a POETIC format…
Which helps to…
Maintain SELF-RETENTION.

ASHA: Good thinking buddy.
Now, if I were to sing
TWINKLE LITTLE TWINKLE STAR
What would you do?

USHTA: HA HAA. No Kidding.
I would immediately stop you and say
Hold on buddy…
Its TWINKLE TWINKLE LITTLE STAR
Not TWINKLE LITTLE TWINKLE STAR

ASHA: AH HAAAAA
So, you see my friend, this helps to…
Sustain SELF-CORRECTION.

USHTA: Why did it become necessary to have this
SELF-RETENTION & SELF-CORRECTION?

ASHA: It's because these
attributes keep the integrity of a message intact
when it is passed on
From Senior Generation to Future Generation
In the form of an Oral Tradition.

USHTA: That makes sense because
That is exactly how the Gathas were passed on
from one generation to another
Via this ancient Iranian Tradition.
One Sings, Others Join and the Congregation Learns.
Preservation by Memorization
Using a built-in Self-Retention and Self-Correction mechanism.

ASHA: In addition to that did you know that:
A song can also become a source of
Inspiration, Transformation and Unification.

USHTA: Yes, and now I can clearly see
Why Zarathushtra shared his divine message
In Poetry instead of Prose Format.

Unlike prose, songs are composed.
They rhyme with rhythm
Which also provides
a sentimental and vibrational value.

Zarathushtra singing in an archaic version of the Avestan
Shared his poetic divine message
in the form of well composed hymns called Gathas.

His teachings were a part of an oral tradition for about 1000-years
Until around the 9th Century
When it became a part of the Written Tradition

ASHA & USHTA TOGETHER:

Our hats off to our visionary Zarathushtra
with love and light to all
